A small town at the foothill of Ceskomoravska vysocina, 40 km westward of Brno, lies close to the Oslava river. At the place of the former castle a wide Renaissance chateau has been built. In 1886 the town was connected by a railway line with Brno and Jihlava. The Baroque bridge over the Oslava river from 1737 is another significant building. It belongs among the most well-preserved bridges in Czech Republic, often likened to the Charles bridge in Praque. It is decorated by 20 statues by J. Winterhalter and A. Jelinek. The bridge is fully opened to public.
